PF0713 Antiemetic
Market
Antiemetics are used to treat nausea and vomiting due to a variety of causes – including, chemotherapy-induced (CINV), radiation-induced (RINV), opioid-induced (OINV) and post-operative nausea and vomiting (PONV). The worldwide antiemetic drug market exceeds $2B.
Unmet Needs
Preventing nausea and vomiting is an important need at present. For example, 70-80% of patients receiving cancer chemotherapy experience nausea and vomiting. Sadly, up to 50% of patients refuse or delay further treatment due to nausea and vomiting. Currently available treatments have limited effect, with only 30 to 50% of patients experiencing limited relief.
Signature Therapeutics' Solution
We have discovered a novel drug, PF0713, which, we believe, is a potent antiemetic, as well as a sedative-hypnotic. In preclinical studies, PF0713 eliminated nausea and vomiting induced by morphine, a known emetic agent.
Consistent with our strategy, PF0713 has the potential to yield multiple products, including, general anesthetic, procedural sedative, ICU sedative, and antiemetic.
