Strategy
PharmacoFore creates value through our ability to efficiently advance relatively low risk drug discovery and development programs, which address large markets with clearly defined unmet needs. Our strategy involves controlling risk through disciplined program selection and applying targeted research strategies and streamlined preclinical and clinical development. All aspects of these strategies are executed with strict financial control.
Discovery: Reducing risk begins with selecting programs wherein mechanisms-of-action are known, and where targeted improvements are demonstrable in early human studies. Through elegant molecular design, we have advanced several novel compounds into development. In addition, we have created multiple proprietary platform technologies that can be broadly applied to the rapid discovery of additional new drugs. Based on such platform leverage, we have demonstrated the ability to advance from ideation to in vivo proof-of-concept in as little as 10 weeks. Further, we maximize value by focusing on programs with the potential to yield multiple high-value drug products.
Development: Our virtual development team has demonstrated the ability to rapidly and efficiently advance drugs through human proof-of-concept (hPOC) studies. To date, we have achieved hPOC in two programs. Our carefully selected programs benefit from well-established and rapid clinical development paths, since they involve known drug classes.
Financial Control: Today’s financial markets pose a challenge to pursuing an innovation-based research and development strategy. One of the keys to creating a resilient business model in this environment is financial discipline. We employ experienced management, and a small internal team that is focused on innovation. We leverage external expertise and capacity throughout the research and development process; thus, we convert costs that would otherwise be fixed, in traditional “high-burn” pharmaceutical company business models, into variable costs.
Additionally, we aim to take programs only through early development, where we achieve a key value inflection point: human proof-of-concept. At that point, we collaborate with global companies to accelerate the development and commercialization of our product candidates in order to maximize each program’s value.
